Entry 21 : Guns, Guys, Guts

Hello.
It's been three weeks since I've been in civilization so I might as well try and write about as much as I can remember since the day I registered myself into Kolej Matrikulasi Johor, Tangkak.

That morning of the 10th of May was sort of a hangover moment.
I spent the night before gaming for the last time, SB-ing one of the most awesome squads I've ever SB-ed with and to the my most absolute delight, we freaking won.
Don't believe me?
Have a look:

Pwned those sorry ass Majors and Colonel. They had a Lt. Colonel in the team but the dude went out at some point during the game. (click to enlarge)

Yeah.
Gamed until 6 AM then got my final things ready for departure.
The first week at KMJ was the most depressing week I've experienced in two years.
Why?
Because loneliness set in like a dark cloud ruining a gloriously shining afternoon.
The dudes there were, like, old-looking and unfriendly and all the things I couldn't relate to.
So I kept to my self for the first five days there.
Then, slowly, I opened up to the people.
I got to know my roommates, my classmates and some old pals I met there.
After the first weekend I finally got a hold of myself and realized that I wasn't ever going to be lonely at KMJ.

Originally, I was put in H3T20 but then some people wanted to transfer from Life Science to Physical Science and some wanted to do it the other way around so one thing led to another and I found myself changed to H2T15.
My roommate, Aaron, was originally a Physical (Fizikal) student but he changed to Life (Hayat) and when we checked the name list for the practicum, we found out that we were not only going to be roommates for the remainder of the two semesters, but we were also going to be classmates and, of course, lecture-mates (if that term even exists).
Up until that point I knew that somehow, I was very lucky.
It's hard for me to explain why, but everyday I feel as if I have been blessed by the best of luck.
Maybe my prayers have been answered or maybe it's just the way it was meant to be.
Either way, I liked it.

Over the three weeks I've been in KMJ, I learned a lot of things but one of the most bizarre things I learned is that my front door neighbor is also my actual neighbor back in Mutiara Rini (we live on the same street).
In our block, Al-Zahrawi, his toom is A*.18 and mine is A*.17.
In Mutiara Rini, we both live on Jalan Utama 1*, my house is No. 10 while his is 93.
Pure coincidence or chosen destiny?
Who knows?
All I know is that the guy's an awesome person and I'm confident that we'll be close friends over time.

The studying process in KMJ has been a pleasant one.
Lectures are okay, tutorials aren't as "burdening" as I thought and the study groups aren't as aggressive or serious as I'd predicted.
Well, all those are what I've experienced so far but it's only been two weeks of studying.
Assignments have started to roll in.
I have two assignments to finish.
I've already done one.
I've Biology and Chemistry lecture notes to rewrite and Chemistry Jotter Book to do.
Sounds like a lot of work, it is, but I feel as if I'm better off occupied with something useful than always going "horizontal" on the bed every time I have free time.
My study group's not like those fancy, go-to-the-library, discuss-this-and-that type of study group.
I don't even think my study group is a study group.
It's just us guys doing or work in our room and asking the dude closest to us for help when we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, if you know what I mean.
I've been helping Hafidz, my neighbor (both at KMJ and in MR) with his Maths and Chem.
He calls me his "mentor" but I'm only just helping with little bits of the parts he can't quite understand.
My other roommate Ahmad's been part of the studying, too.
He does his work by himself and asks for help from either me or Aaron when he can't quite figure out his answer.
It's all just about helping each other out with everyone's work so it's great to see a lot of people doing their work in the same place at the same time; something I haven't seen since pre-SPM days.

One thing I noticed, being in KMJ, music is a very, very important component in one's daily routine.
Seriously, everyone goes around plugging earphones into their ears and listening to their desired tunes.
Some opt to play the song through the speakers of their phone and others prefer to keep their music to themselves.
Some sing their songs aloud, some hum their songs to themselves.
No matter where you go, there will always be a hint of music around the students there.
Me, I have to rely on my suckish vocal chords to allow me to follow the current trend.
My music is kept in my pendrive and laptop and those are two things I don't want to show to the kids in KMJ.
I'm a paranoid person.
Therefore, stuff that prove to be worth more than I could imagine will be kept away from the prying eyes of the KMJ students.
I'll find a way to enable myself to listen to my music but in the meantime I'll just have to listen to the other guys' playlists.
If I'm lucky, I'd get to choose the songs to be played.

Well, I think that's all I can write about the place I hope I'll be staying till next year.
One song that has regular airplay is Green Day's 21 Guns.
My roommate, Ahmad really likes that song so it's always played on his phone.
It's a great song.
Maybe I'll learn how to play it on my guitar someday.
If you haven't listened to the song yet, check it out:

I'll write in next time to keep you people out there, whoever you are, updated.
I am absolutely positive that I won't get to update my blog and write new entries on a frequent basis but I will try to write new entries when I have the time.
Until next time.

"Throw up your arms into the sky. You and I."
