Entry 136 : MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia 2014

Hello!
Last night, I attended the biggest concert of the year: MTV WORLD STAGE LIVE IN MALAYSIA 2014.

The show started at 7.30PM, with VJ's Hanli and Alan greeting the crowd and welcoming them to the beginning of an explosive night.
However, before all the fun and rocking began, the VJs invited everyone on the Sunway Surf Beach to a minute of silence in memory of the MH17 tragedy.

And then it was time for the show!
Thai-American hip hop group THAITANIUM charged the stage with super dope beats and fresh rhymes.
The group comprising Khan, Way, Day, Big Calo and Tony B proved their worth on the stage of the world with their flawless showmanship and crowd work.
Right off the bat, their set got the whole crowd (especially me) pumped up for the rest of the evening.
Their 11-song medley included songs like “Do What I Say”, “Bong Tong”, “Put Your Hands Up” and “Sukebe".
They also gave an exclusive first performance of their newest single 'Wake Up (Bangkok City)' that features Snoop Dogg.

Here are some shots of Thaitanium during their performances:

Next to perform was Universal Music's first ever K-pop group: BOYS REPUBLIC.

The boys put on a great performance with songs such as 'You Are Special' and a remix of their popular song 'Video Game'.
Their sharp choreography and distinctive vocals drove the crowd into a frenzy, with screams breaking the decibel charts.

Visual pleasure at its best

As part of their "Girlfriend" contest, one lucky fan got to go on stage and perform with the band.
Strutting her K-pop style and dance moves, the Girlfriend won a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform 'Dress Up' at the prestigious World Stage.
Boys Republic ended their set with fan favorite 'Party Rock'.

YUNA was the next to perform!
Our very own homegirl brought the crowd into a lovely atmosphere right as she came into view from beneath the stage with her first song 'Falling'.

Her soulful and intoxicating songs were played so beautifully on the stage.
She dazzled the crowd with her songs such as 'Mountains', 'Lelaki' and 'Dan Sebanarya', with witty commentary in between all songs.
She also performed 'Lights And Camera', 'Terukir Di Bintang' and even broke out her ukulele to perform “Rescue”.
Yuna ended her set with a heartwarming performance of “Come Back”.

And then it was time to welcome the headliner of the night, the one and only B.O.B!

An energetic starting for B.o.B

B.o.B was simply fantastic.
He performed his songs with full of heart, passion and love.
His words, his moves and his eyes conveyed an unexplainable message that transcends mere melodies and sounds.
Bobby Ray put all his energy in his performance, with hits such as 'Don't Let Me Fall', 'Ready (ft Future)', 'Headband (ft 2 Chainz)', 'John Doe (ft Priscilla)' and international hit song 'So Good'.
It was a magical moment when the crowd simultaneously broke into chorus at the beginning of 'Magic (ft Rivers Cuomo), where B.o.B went down into the fans to give out high fives and touches and love.

The crowd kept on with the togetherness as everyone took out their cellphones to create a wave of light and sang along to 'Both Of Us (ft Taylor Swift).
It was a passionate moment, and I, as part of the crowd, was filled with a sense of belonging and hope.
For me, the highlight of the night was when B.o.B performed 'Airplanes (ft. Hayley Williams).
People were brought to tears as he dedicated the song to those who have lost their loved ones in recent tragedies.
B.o.B did some crowd surfing, more high-fiving and even took some smartphones out of the crowd to take selfies with the crowd!

B.o.B ended the night of soulful, hard-hitting and enjoyable music with the song 'Still In This'.
