Entry 141 : Shila Amzah [LOVE] Live In Malaysia

Hello, everyone!
I apologize for such a late coverage but my laptop went out of commission just a few days ago and I haven't been able to do any work since.
Anyway, here is my coverage of Shila Amzah's first concert in Malaysia: SHILA AMZAH [LOVE] LIVE IN MALAYSIA.

Last Saturday, I was invited by Mega Ultimate to cover the event as a member of the media.
The concert was jointly organized by Mega Ultimate Sdn Bhd and Shila Amzah Entertainment Berhad, making it 100% locally produced.
The venue, Mega Star Arena was a venue I had never been to before and I was excited to see what was in store.

I arrived at around 6.40PM and the place was already swarming with fans.
It was obvious that they were super excited to see their favorite singer on her own stage for the first time ever.
Doors opened around 7.15PM and fans began to flood in.

Despite the slight delay, the concert started off with a bang with Shila's hit song Yang Teristimewa.

Shila looking fantastic in an all-blue outfit

Shila delivered her songs with passion and emotion and it translated visually through her body language and expressions.
That night, Shila sang a mix of her Malay hits and also Chinese hits.
Her performance of Masih Aku Cinta still gives me chills whenever I recall the moment she soulfully captured fans' hearts.

In her own spotlight, Shila sings with all her heart

After Masih Aku Cinta, fans were surprised by a special guest artiste by the name of James, who sang a duet with Shila.
Their voices blended in harmony and their close friendship reflected an undeniable chemistry that just clicked.

Eye-to-eye

One fan was so impressed, she kept asking me about him during his performance!
James continued to wow fans with his solo performance.
His raspy voice, charming looks and a good sense of connection with the audience made for a rocking performance.
(The titles on the song list for the Chinese songs are in Chinese, so I'm sorry that I cannot specify the name of the Chinese songs that they sang).

He also speaks with an English accent

After he finished his song, James thanked the fans and made his way off stage.
Shila came back on in a different outfit, this time sporting a kind of sporty look, with dark green as the main color and sleek black accents.
She performed her song Maaf with adorable props and awfully cute choreography to match the tone of the song.
It was a very light song with colorful outfits and jovial dance moves.

After that, Shila performed Sedar before performing EXO's Overdose.
When I first received the song list, I was ecstatic to see Overdose on the list and kept anticipating the performance.
When the time finally came for Shila to perform that song, she did not disappoint!

"Someone call a doctor"

Despite claiming that "singing and dancing at the same time is hard," Shila pulled off the performance so perfectly, I was devastated when the song ended.
She performed every part by herself, including the raps and high notes!
Her Korean was on point, and this is coming from a person who speaks Korean himself.
Her singing and dancing were not at all awkward and I truly felt her energy.

After performing another few songs, Shila changed into her last outfit of the night.
And as the saying goes, "save the best for last", Shila's closing outfit was hands down my favorite of the night.

Red, the color of passion

Shila looked powerful in her red dress, with hard-hitting songs and glamorous props.
Her backup dancers further enforced the sense of fierceness and I was really blown away.

Shila's deadly gaze

Fans were delighted when Shila started talking about Lee Hom and how he had inspired her to take up learning Chinese and break into the China music industry.
She confessed how much she looked up to him and then proceeded to sing a medley of his songs.

Not only that, Shila also displayed a magnificent version of A Moment Like This, where English and Chinese lyrics were intertwined.
Again, her passion and emotion burst and the crowd was left in awe.

Once she finished singing A Moment Like This, Shila reminded the audience that no matter who we are or where we go, we will always be carrying our father's name.
She said that we must not take our parents for granted, that we must love and respect them; for if we can't respect our elders, how would we respect our country?
Shila was proud that her fans of different races could come together and enjoy the night in unison, displaying true Malaysian spirit.
We are the "warisan" of our forefathers and we must always remember who we are and where we come from.

She then proceeded to call her father up on stage to sing a duet with her.
The song Warisan was cleverly transitioned into the night and thus began an epic daughter-father duet.
It was a beautiful moment, to see a father so proud of his daughter and to see a daughter so close to her father.
That was definitely the biggest highlight of the night; one that Shila, her father and all her fans would never forget.

"Di sini lahirnya sebuah cinta"

But that didn't end the concert right there.
Shila still had a few more surprises up her sleeve, and this time she did a refreshing performance of a medley of Beyonce songs.
Shila attributes Beyonce as one of her biggest idols and her tribute was proof.

Shila ended the night with Memori Tercipta and said her goodbyes to the fans.
The lights went out but the fans were still in the building, chanting "SHILA! SHILA! ENCORE! ENCORE!".
It was riotous, and I was beginning to protect my camera gear in fear of a violent breakout.
Nah, not really.
But the fans were really determined to call Shila back out and after a few minutes, she did!

"I heard my name" was her remark (very cheeky) and she called everyone to come up to the front of the stage.
In mere seconds, the whole floor in front of the stage was filled with fans, screaming and waving at Shila.
I was also part of this giant sea of people and I really felt the love these people had for her.

Shila gave one more song to her fans as an encore, where she sang Patah Seribu (another very clever arrangement).
She gave it her all and left every fan with a sweet memory.
Shila gave her final bow before the concert finally came to its inevitable end.

All in all, Shila performed 21 songs, including the encore.
I loved every moment of the concert.
From the lights, the stage, the sound, the acoustics to the performances, surprises and flawless execution.
It was an awesome production and I for one can deem it very successful.
I was blown away by every song, and Shila deserves mad respect for all the hard work she'd put in.
It was truly a lovely night and I hope to experience more nights like this in the future.
