Hello, there!
It has been long since I last attended a K-pop event, the last being MBLAQ's brief performance at K Festival in August 2014.
But that was to change since I was invited by TGM Events to cover the first K-pop event of the year in Malaysia: B1A4's Special Fanmeeting.
The fanmeeting went on without a hitch, starting around 6PM with Bernard Hiew as the MC of the night.
Bernard did well in interacting with the fans and creating a connection and understanding.
His funny antics and unbarred expressions gave off a very positive vibe at the start of the fanmeeting, which resonated throughout the show.

After taking photos with the fans and recording a special message for B1A4, Bernard gave way to the boys to start off their performances.
Music began to blast through the speakers and out came CNU, Jinyoung, Baro, Gongchan and Sandeul singing their debut single, OK.
Fans immediately were thrown into a state of daze, screaming and singing along to the very iconic song.
The boys then followed up with the playful song Beautiful Target.
The song which was released in 2011 brought back memories to the early days of B1A4 and was definitely one of the crowd favorites.
Hilarious choreography coupled with a great sense of presence, B1A4 certainly reminded the fans why they have been so successful to date and why they have been constantly receiving so much love.

The boys then took a break to introduce themselves and greet the fans who came.
Each member took the time to express their utmost gratitude to their fans who have stuck by them for so long and thanked those who waited for them to come back to Malaysia after a long while.
They also expressed their concern for Malaysians who have been hit by the massive flood and hoped that everyone was okay.

Next, they continued their string of performances with a stellar display of dance and vocal with the song Lonely.
A more mature side
As with all fanmeetings, the organizers fitted in a game session, where a few lucky fans would be able to team up with their favorite member and play a game.
The fans were chosen at random by the boys, where each member had to pick a question/message from a message board.

Each member chose one message and with it, they answered the fan's questions/request.
Then, they played a game where they had to parody (re-enact) scenes from various Korean dramas.
The fanmeeting continued with even more spectacular performances.
I was frankly quite disappointed that they didn't perform Tried To Walk since it's one of my personal favorites, and having only seen it live at KMW Bangkok 2013.
Even so, I was ecstatic when they sang What's Happening? and Baby Goodnight, which are also my favorites.

I certainly had a good night
9 songs in and it was finally time for the hi-touch session with the VVIP and VIPs.
Fans who purchased VVIP and VIP tickets were ushered on stage to share a memorable moment with each member by giving them high fives and exchanging short conversations.
Fanmeetings are especially sought out by fans because of this rare opportunity to really meet their beloved idols.

When everyone thought the evening was over after the hi-touch session, the boys came back on stage and wowed the fans for one last time with their enthusiastic performance of You Are My Girl.
This last song with the fans was the boys' chance to really give it their all and make a lasting memory with the fans who have shown them immense support and love.

B1A4 gave their all in putting on a splendid fanmeeting.
Their constant interaction with the fans, their sharp dance moves and perfect vocals made for an amazing night.
Being the first K-pop event of the year, B1A4 and TGM Events set the bar high for the following events to come.
I hope that B1A4 come back for a full solo concert that would feature more songs and more special treats for the fans.
I have always been a fan of their music and their work, so to see them still be the down-to-earth, modest boys that they are really made my night.
The fanmeeting ended with a group session for VVIPs.
