Today, I'll be delivering brand new content, which differs from my usual photography, review * preview, life experience, coverage or info type of posts.
Since I'll be working to build relations with more companies out there and attend more diverse events (launching or press conferences), I will be posting more announcements and also news regarding some pieces of technology and brands.
Don't worry, though.
All this will also still pertain to photography and will only help you guys out there make the best decisions relevant to taking up photography or running a photography business.
So, on April 2nd, I attended the launch of Western Digital's newest additions to their line up of Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems: the EX2100 & EX4100 for Expert My Cloud and DL2100 & DL4100 for Business My Cloud.
Powered for users who demand for greater storage capacity and efficacy; The all new My Cloud™ Expert & Business Series are built with the prosumers (creative professionals, videographers) and small businesses (SOHO, entrepreneurs) in mind to power their storage needs and business needs.
Now, before we get into the nitty gritty details of the new systems, I shall first give a brief explanation of what NAS is.
NAS, or Network Attached Storage, acts as a data storage server connected to a network that provides instant data access to a number of allowed users.
It is a specialized piece technology that mainly deals with storing, serving and streaming files; whose tasks are varied depending on its hardware, software, or personalized preferences.
Simply put, NAS is your external hard drive that you store all your data through WiFi.
Western Digital have been in the NAS game for quite a while, and now they are expanding to move forward according to the changing times and rapid evolution of content creation.
My Cloud Expert Series
With their existing Expert series, they have added the My Cloud EX2100 (two-bay) and My Cloud EX4100 (four-bay) high-performance NAS systems designed from the ground up for creative professionals and prosumers that need to reliably save, share, back up, stream and manage large amounts of digital data.
Powered by the latest version of the dual-core Marvell ARMADA™ processor, these two new additions to the Expert Series offer top of their class read/write speeds for simultaneous, high-performance HD media streaming with up to 24 TB of storage capacity.

For a reasonable price point, creative professionals and business owners can benefit from secure, anywhere access storage that are compatible with Windows® 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista®, Windows XP, Mac OS X Yosemite, Mavericks™, Mountain Lion™, Lion®, as well as DLNA®/UPnP® enabled devices.
Access through smartphone is also available through the WD My Cloud mobile app available at the App Store and Google Play.
The My Cloud Expert Series and My Cloud Business Series products are available now through selected retailers and resellers and are distributed by Amble Action Sdn Bhd and Eternal Asia (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
It was a blast to be invited to cover the launching of this new age product that will definitely set the bar in terms of data storage and streaming.
Fariq and I at QZ Photography have constantly had to switch out external hard drives, manually transfer and backup all our photos through multiple disks, which takes up a lot of time and energy.
The NAS system provides a more centralized and streamlined way of keeping files safe and for quick access.
