Entry 236 : Review - Sony FDR-X3000

Sony FDR-X3000 + accessories

Hello, there!

It took quite some time to finish this review but I think it is one of the most succinct reviews that I have ever produced because everything that I need to say about the Sony Action Cam FDR-X3000 has been said in the video below:

In short, the FDR-X3000 is an awesome action camera that performs beyond expectations of a typical action camera. The image quality is the best I've seen and the Balanced Optical Steadyshot (BOSS) has no competition as it is optical stabilization, whereas other action cams go for digital stabilization. The downside that I found with the FDR-X3000 is the design of the camera, where the live view remote (or screen) is external to the camera. Despite the advantage in versatility, the problem arises when the underwater case is deployed. This significantly cuts off the connectivity and renders the screen useless. Even so, the camera has such a high potential and for what it costs, it definitely is my most recommended choice for an action camera right now.

Note: Sony FDR-X3000 (2016) costs RM1570 while GoPro Hero 5 (2016) costs RM1870. GoPro Hero 6 (2017) costs RM2,400.

I would like to give a big thank you to Sony Malaysia for lending me the FDR-X3000 along with its accessories. Head over to their Facebook page for updates on new products and also the Alpha Universe Malaysia Facebook page for workshops and events.

Thank you very much for dropping by this review and I hope you enjoyed the video! Until next time, take care.
